HE’S PERFECT FOR HER IN EVERY WAY, EXCEPT FOR ONE SMALL ISSUE. HE’S TOO LATE. My name is Lily Snow. And I was once the kind of ugly that turned heads and made people stare. The worst part was how I let it ruin my life and destroy my relationship with the love of my life: Maxwell Cole, one of the sexiest, wealthiest, enigmatic men on the planet. All because I felt ugly and certainly not good enough for a man’s love. But not anymore. One car wreck, three reconstructive surgeries, and some unexpected money have changed my life. I’ve started my own company, I’ve finally learned to like myself—not love, but like (hey, it’s a journey)—and I’ve met a wonderful new man who’s helped me put Max in the past where he belongs. There’s only one problem: after six long months, Maxwell Cole is back, asking for the one thing I can’t give him. And he’s not taking no for an answer. NOTE: This is a continuation of the story FUGLY, but is a standalone.

It’s a Fugly Life is book two in the Fugly series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. All opinions expressed in this review are of my own and were not influenced by any outside sources. I fell in love with the first book of this series, Fugly, and with Max and Lily. I have been so excited for this continuation of their story. All opinions expressed in this review are of my own and were not influenced by any outside sources. I fell in love with the first book of this series, Fugly, and with Max and Lily. I have been so excited for this continuation of their story. I think I might have loved this one even more than the first. It was sexy, sweet, funny and so much more. Have you ever had that inner voice that tells you that you aren’t pretty enough, or smart enough, or that you don’t deserve something? I know I have, a lot! Lily Snow was smart, had a killer body, a drive that helped her to achieve at what ever she did. But she was not pretty. People said she was ugly. Growing up it just made her work harder to achieve things. In book one of this series, we see how she and Max come together and get to know them and all of their challenges. The book has a shocking ending which our dear Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is famous for. So now in It’s a Fugly Life, we finally get to see how their story ends. Before I go on, I need to say that I am so in love with Max. Yes he has some serious flaws. But this man…well, I probably should stop there for now. “sigh” Lily is back in California and has opened her own boutique. She hasn’t heard from Max in six long months. She has accepted that they are over. She has begun dating Patricio, an Italian movie star. She is just feeling like her life is starting to be okay, that SHE will be okay. Until Max walks back in to her life, proclaiming his love, and proposing marriage. Where has he been for the last six months? Why hasn’t he contacted her? Lily is continually pulled back and forth between Max and Patricio. They have a long standing feud between them and she is right in the middle of it. As details emerge, Lily find out just what Max has been doing for the last few months and it made me fall in love with him even more. But still, he makes a few mistakes, yes, they are serious ones. But once you see what he was trying to do, well… Patricio and his family were pretty hilarious. And I seriously love Lily’s family. Her brother is crazy and her parents couldn’t be more dear. Lily is still plagued with that Fugly voice in her head, always right there to tell her no, that she wasn’t enough, will never be enough. Until she can conquer her own inner demons, does she really have a chance at happiness? Can she risk everything with a man that makes her want everything? Or should she accept something more comfortable, safer? I pretty much read this book in a day. I loved it that much. I couldn’t put it down. You really need to read Fugly first, so you can start at the beginning with Max and Lily. But now you won’t have to wait to see how their story ends. Buckle your seat belt and get ready for the crazy wild ride that is Lily Snow’s life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, for another wonderful, sweet, funny book. These two will stay with me for a long time.

2.5 stars I didn't like this very much. If you have read Fugly (which i absolutely adored) you may be as surprised as me to find out there's actually a continuation to Max's and Lily's story. How true can your love be (as you kept describing it to be)? That was my first problem. Then the guy she chose to marry- oh my gosh, can he be any more immature? He was uninterestingly annoying! And the dramas...oh my god... this was like a train wreck i knew was going to happen by 15% of the book. But because of my love of this author and i really did want to know what happens, i continued through this mess. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Overall, a meh-just-an-ok read for me

Leave it to Mimi Jean Pamfiloff to take some heartrending moments and find humor in being human! Lily is in a love/hate relationship with herself where she has settled on a tremulous ceasefire. The love of her life destroyed her fragile self-acceptance and her belief in happy-ever-afters which led to drastic changes in both Lily and her life, including a hot Italian actor she just might be in love with. Lily has opened her own boutique, picking up the shattered pieces of her life and desperately trying to move forward, in spite of the potholes and detours, mostly of her own internal making. The emotional patch job she did on herself is about to be shredded to bits as Max, in all of his gorgeous glory comes back into her life, a man almost on his knees begging her to take him back, but Lily isn’t a sure thing anymore and Max is going to have to do more than stand there looking gorgeous, offering the best sex of her life if he is to have any chance of winning her back. Come on, the guy is used to having his looks and charm open doors (and other things)for him, so when Lily said no to even becoming his business partner, let alone his life partner, let’s just say, let the games begin! It’s a Fugly Life is so much more than another witty, humorous and hot look at romance and all of its trials and tribulations! Hidden beneath all the quirky situations, humor, self-flagellation and testosterone is a tale of self-acceptance and strength, change and true, if flawed love. Yes, really and I loved it! In true “Mimi” style, Ms. Pamfiloff makes human failings and hang-ups come to life with humor and heart! I absolutely love Lily, she is real, she is a mish-mash of humanity at its most vulnerable who puts on her big girl panties and struggles to learn to be who she is, what she is and take what she wants…of course, keeping those panties on gets a little tough and admitting what she wants isn’t so easy either! Face it, It’s a Fugly Life but everyone has a fascinating story to share! 3.5 - 4 ★'s It was a happy surprise to get another story for Max and Lily especially since everything seemed to end well in the first book. However, from the very beginning of this book, you know that they didn't continue that way. Apparently, Max had a hard time with how things played out and hasn't been in contact with Lily for six months. Lily took that as he wanted nothing to do with her and went on with her life - surprisingly. I was a little shocked that she moved on so quickly. Unfortunately, no one really listens to her and all kinds of unnecessary drama pops up. I do have to say that I was a little disappointed in Max...in more ways than one. But Lily has to be true to herself as always and she's finally able to decide what she wants and hold on to that. There's more drama even down to the ending but thank goodness for Callahan. And that ending? Priceless!

Lily has tried to move on - she has a new man in her life and a new business venture and she's convinced herself she is happy. But she isn't. Really, she's settling and trying so hard to fit into her new skin and she's a lost little puppy. The Lily we meet here is but a shell of her former self, and at times it was hard to watch as she hit that self-destruct button over and over again. More than anything, this book is about self-acceptance and discovering who you are and what you aspire to achieve in life. Lily thinks she has it all figured out but she's cowering behind an imaginary wall and failing to face reality. Until Max makes a reappearance and she is forced to confront her demons head-on. Max is Lily's past and her Italian-stallion actor lover is her future. Or so she tries to tell herself over and over again. It was downright painful to watch Lily push Max away but it was all part of her learning curve. I felt her uncertainty and her self-doubt and I hated how this strong, intelligent woman made stupid mistake after stupid mistake. The pivotal scene toward the end was fantastic because it showed how far Lily had traveled - how she had won the battle with her crippling self-doubt to emerge as someone who knew she was worthy of love and devotion. Patricio is an ass. There, I've said it. How on earth Lily could've fallen for him is beyond me. I saw nothing of the man she described at the outset, and I was scratching my head wondering how a woman like Lily could be so blinkered. Max was AMAZING in this book. Yes, he's still a jerk and all his hot-headed fights with Patricio were totally immature, but he never stopped loving Lily and he was always there for her. When I found out everything he had done for her, I swooned big style. The writing was great again, and even though it wasn't quite as funny as the first book it still had plenty of humorous moments. In summary, this was another great read from Mimi Jean and I'd highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-written, emotionally complex romance with heart. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are my own.

Now Lily is wonderfully normal looking and it's been six months since since she left Chicago, since she's seen Max. Lily's not one to dwell on her past mistakes....much so she is moving on she's dating again, heck she already almost engaged. Max walked back into Lily's life six months after almost completely destroying her world and wants to pick up where they left off asking for forgiveness and with a huge grand gesture. But then there's Patricio, Italy's most famous actor. Lily loves both men, in different ways but she needs to figure out can she trust her heart to Max again or settle with a man who she can learn to love more than a friend. I'm not a lover a love triangles, but because this is Mimi Jean Pamfiloff I could not not read it. I liked living with the illusion that Max and Lily lived happily ever after after Fugly, but nooooooo. My anxieties about this book were unnecessary. Lily pretty much handled the whole thing like I would. Tell them both to shut up and get out. Overall, this was more a book about wresting with your inner demons, the one voice in your head that is full of self hatred, mistrust, anxiety, and makes you doubt everything. The voice that always tells you that you're not good enough, you are doing it wrong, and no one will ever love you, why would they love you. Mimi has aptly named it the fugly voice. Lily even though she no longer has the face that would have little children crying monster she still has that fugly voice that makes her doubt everything. Lily's journey in this book is learning that you can't trust that voice, you can't get rid of it but you can learn to ignore it and that sometimes you need to take that risk and trust your heart. I loved this book, it's one of those books that will stick with you forever. Mimi manages to make an emotional story infused with a quirky sense of humor and full of sexy hunks.

Such an inspiring, and enthralling read. This look at Lily and Max's story is very real and brings you into a world that makes you think about that fugly voice in your head that makes you wonder at your own worth. As the follow up to Fugly, this book was pretty underwhelming. At the start of the story, I like the farcical nature of it; I laughed out loud a few times. But unfortunately the scenes just became disappointing or even somehow unsatisfying as if the author either wasn't taking it seriously or didn't have anything left to say.

You can find my review here, and while It’s a Fugly Life stands alone just fine, trust that it is so much better with the back story from Fugly. The Kindle version of Fugly has been on sale for a few weeks, so snatch it up while you can! Fans of the first book will find Lily making life happen instead of letting life happen to her…at least that is the initial feeling you get. After striking off on her own and breaking all ties with Max after emotionally and publicly eviscerating him and costing him a metric butt ton of money as well as his family business, Lily is just treading the waters of life. When Max suddenly shows up with a proposal, he seems surprised that she turns him down. No news from him in months despite her profuse and heartfelt apologies, and he just pops up out of nowhere with a request and a smug expression?! Get real, Max. He’s not the type of man to take no for an answer, though, especially if it is something (or someone) that he really wants. Life seems determined to intrude on Max and Lily’s progress, throwing people and events into the mix to drive them apart in the most insane ways. Just when you think they might be getting a grip, something comes along to completely turn things around and they are back at each other’s throats or walking away from one another. As usual, the author takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster of “WTH just happened?!” and “punch him in the face-hole!” proportions, and keeps us turning the pages. With loveable and hate-worthy characters, well written love scenes, and enough reality to render the story comical at points, this was a very enjoyable read. **ARC received from author in exchange for honest review**

I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review. I did thoroughly enjoy this book but it wasn't long enough for me or have as much action as the first. It still made you think about the underlying mantra of the story and how to love yourself from the inside.

Fugly was a pretty decent erotica book that dealt with some serious topics too. While the book ended with a story nicely resolved, I was not against reading the sequel. I only finished this because I don't like to DNF in general and because I was too lazy and sleepy tonight to bother to choose a new book to go to bed. Apart from the rather amusing, vaudeville-like three family intervention near the end, this was fairy tale unbelievable, syrupy, full of cliches and very, very meh.

Such a great story! Oh, Lily...will you never learn? I loved immersing myself in Lily's psyche. She's funny and her struggle to accept herself are so aligned with what so many of us women go through. Mimi Jean did it again, this is a great story about self love and faith in the love of the other people in your life.

Of course if you read the first book, you also know that Lily no longer has that face due to a horrific accident that almost cost her her life. One that left her with no other choice but to have reconstructive surgery to repair the damage so while she now has facial scares, they can be mostly covered up with makeup and her face no longer is fugly, in fact it isn’t even ugly now. That does not mean that Lily’s life is now perfect. She may have a new face, her own company and money but in the process of gaining a few of the things that she had always wanted, she has now lost the one thing that she recently discovered that she wanted most which was Maxwell Cole. In this book Lily is trying her best to leave Max in her past while looking towards the future with her new boyfriend but Max refuses to stay in her past. He’s back and is determined to have Lily and make her see that while she may have thought that he turned his back on her, he honestly had her best interest at heart. So while Lily struggles with her relationships, both past and present, her company, as well her love/hate relationship with herself she finds that she has some very big decisions to make. Exactly what does Lily’s future hold for her? Who will she will choose? I gave this book 4.5 stars because I didn’t love Lily in this book as much as I did in the first book. The Lily before the accident seemed to have had more confidence in herself than the Lily after the accident. Now that she was no longer ugly she seemed, to me at least, as though she was full of more self-doubt that I remember her having before, I mean I know that she did have it before because it was the reason that she left Max but to me she just seemed to have more of it this time when she shouldn’t have. Oh and I absolutely hated her new boyfriend, what a whiny little bastard he was. I really did love this book though and I especially loved the fact that this was truly the end for them and that the evil Mimi Jean that we all love to hate didn’t rear her evilness and throw yet another cliff hanger at us.

I totally love Fugly, it was one of my favorite book of all time and Lily's one of my favorite female MC, but this one ruined my envisioned ending for Fugly. I'm not gonna lie, after reading Fugly, I asked the author if she could write book two! Yeah, I wanted book two! But not like this! :( I cannot believe it! I don't like triangles especially that Lily slept/been intimate with Patricio! Of all people! And got engage!? Huh? In Six months! After she ruined Max whom she claimed that she love. Like seriously?????? The author wants to portray an imperfect woman that everyone can relate into. And in Fugly, I can sometimes see myself a lot like Lily ; insecure and doesn't believed to deserve everthing, a perfectly imperfect person, that's why she became one of my favorite. But with this book, the old brave, true, smart and quirky Lily became dumb and phony. How can she be so dumb and enter into a new relationship especially if she's still hung up ("Max' the love of my life" etc etc lines? ) with her ex. And six months is just short. It would be okay if it was after a year or two but six months??!! My issue is that it is because her P can't live without a C! And oh, there's also a scene, which turned my blood into a boiling point, when she even have the guts to asked Max if he is safe before she'll banged him!? Excuse me!??? She's the one with a fiancé, whom she'd boned for months! Not only that, she became a cheat and an idiot! **insert crying my eyes out here** My favorite character is ruined. And to top all of that, Patricio? of all the men in the universe???? Hmmnnpp! This sequel for me cannot hold a candle with the first one! This book is saved by Max. Oh Max, a little bit different (good different) from the Max in Fugly but totally swoon worthy. Ending is rush even if it has an epilogue IMO. (hide spoiler)] #ReadAtYourOwnRisk

Another delightful read from the amazing Mimi! and I was lucky enough to be able to read this as an ARC, supplied by the author. THANK YOU MIMI! So we pick up right where Fugly left off, with Max coming to visit Lily in her new boutique, and proposing to her. Then the fun begins. The story goes in all directions, with poor Lily still trying, and mostly succeeding, with convincing herself she is not as ugly as she believes. She has moved on in the last six months, and has done her best to leave Max behind, so to have him standing in her shop now, is crazy. She had thought, from the fact there was no communication between them that it was definitely over. Somehow, Max never got the memo!! How much and how long will it take for Max to convince Lily that they were meant to be? He had no idea what I’d been through these last six months. He had no idea how hard it had been to get up every day and not cry or hate myself for what I’d done to him, to us. But I’d finally pulled my life together a few crumbs at a time. I’d…moved on. At least, I was trying. I tugged down on the hem of my pink sweater and lifted my chin. “I’m sorry,” I said with a firm tone, “but I can’t marry you.” WHAT!!??Ah, Mimi! We need a HEA here! His words were like thumbscrews. Only on my heart. Heart screws? Lily is sporting an engagement ring, but even that doesn't deter Max in his quest to win her love again, he loves her so completely. So which of the men in her life will Lily choose for forever, or will she choose either of them? The whole family gets involved with this one, with both Lily's mum and the "old dragon lady" herself, Max's mum, even getting in on things. There is a lot goes on in the story, a lot of ups and downs, ifs and buts, but finally, Max and Lily both get what they deserve out of life. Another great story from a wonderful lady, who writes some terrific tales. Keep up the amazing work, and thank you for allowing me to read this as an ARC.

This one was just a mess!!! They split, she was marrying someone else. Face pregnancy, two men fighting over her, she couldn't make her mind up even though it was clear from the beginning she'd be with Max. Almost a no show at her own wedding..... it was full of unwanted drama and I just didn't like it. IT made her seem stupid!!! SUch a pity as she was such a great heroine in the first book. This was an amazing read that really touches the heart! It's a ride that will make you laugh, cry and swoon! But it will also make you look inside yourself to see the inner beauty! So many only see what's on the outside, when the real beauty is within! Mimi you did it again! Thank you for a fantastic read! I received this book from the author for an honest review! Mimi never disappoints!
