Spencer has reasons for putting up walls and not trusting women. This was freaking Awesome! I loved Spencer and Sophie's Banter, You could feel the tension coming off the pages. They were hilarious. "I'd rather pet a cobra!" He looked like he was about to laugh. "I have something you're more than welcome to come pet." Then they were sweet. I loved sweet Spencer. "How could you not see it?" She couldn't see anything except how beautiful his mouth was and how much she wanted it back on hers. "What?" His thumb traced her bottom lip. "That you've had me from the first moment we me." He kissed her lightly once, twice, slow, sweet pecks. "The second I looked into your eyes..." More kisses. I was yours." But all along I was just waiting to see when the evil would show their face. I just knew who it was, I was right! But that didn't make it better at all. I wasn't prepared for what came next... It was too much I was like WTF NOOOOOOO NOOOOO NOOOOO I kept looking at the bottom corner of my kindle say 94%, 95% and Im screaming you better end on a cliffhanger, I didn't want it to end. The writing was intense and drew me in. I found myself re-reading scenes just so I could experience the feeling again. That kissing scene at the restaurant.... "sigh" It was Brilliant, LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! A MUST READ ADD IT NOW! 5+++ STARS

It had stepped into her world where it could frighten her whenever it pleased. From the moment that Sophie meets her new gorgeous next door neighbor she is weak for him. The only thing is he is completely hot and cold with her. You see, Spencer has been hurt before and has sworn off girls altogether; believing they are cheaters and only out to hurt you. Slowly Sophie has to show Spencer that she is different than the girl who broke his heart…that she truly likes him and doesn’t want to hurt him. Once Spencer realizes he is falling for her he gives Sophie his all. And they live happily ever after. Right? Wrong. Soon attacks and threats are being made against the young couple. Together, with the help of their families and the police, they try to figure out who is coming at them and stop them before it is too late. Why would someone want to hurt Sophie? And at what lengths will the attacker go to in order to get to her? Buckle up and hang on…GAMES OF FIRE is such an intense ride. Gonna be slightly honest with you. I wasn't entirely in the mood to read this book; not another paranormal. (4 users on goodreads tagged it paranormal and even the cover gives off a paranormalesk feel) I needed a good contemporary fiction to get my blood moving after reading a few supernatural/paranormal books. And as I started reading the story, I soon become hooked. This book was starting off like a contemp read and I was totally digging that about it. But where are the werewolves? Where is the vampires? So guess what I came to realize at the end of the book? AT THE FREAKING END OF THE BOOK? This is not a paranormal read. So you readers who tagged it one? Yeah I hate you. Like seriously hate you. Ok now that my rant is over, lets talk about the innards to the book…the rich, delicious goodness to the book. What did I love about this book? Um, like everything. I seriously don’t think I found one single problem with it. Well besides the fact that the book ended and there is not another one in the making. Doesn’t Phoenix understand she cannot give us a character like Spencer and make it a one book deal? Things don’t work that way. Maybe if we band together and riot, Phoenix will hear our demands for more Spencer and Sophie. Another aspect I loved was the dialogue in the story. This author is absolutely hilarious and it shows in her writing. The witty banter, the snarky comments, and the conversations that were carried on by the characters had me smiling and laughing out loud. I totally fell for these people after just a few pages in. I mean, how could you not? Everything flowed smoothly and nothing felt forced or artificial. Ok, I have rambled enough. But know this…GAMES OF FIRE is a definite must read. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves an intense, pager turner full of romance and suspense. The emotions that you experience while reading this is absolutely insane and the book coma it leaves you with when you are done is completely euphoric. I may not be able to start another book tonight...needing to give it time for this one to sink it and marinate. Pick GAMES OF FIRE up today and you can thank me later.

OMG! This book was epic! The characters, the plot, just everything about it screamed awesome! Once I started reading, I honestly couldn't stop! I would tell myself to just read one more chapter but I always found myself reading like 5 or 6 more chapters! The plot was so beautiful but it was full of suspense and action at the same time! I adored the relationship development between the two main characters as it was slow and it definitely developed at the right pace for the plot as well! The plot OMG! This book was epic! The plot was also full of action and it would come when you were least expecting it as well! I did find this book a bit long but there was enough action in it to make it seem like it was a 200 page book instead of like a 400 page book! I fell in love with the characters! Sophie was the main character and I just adored her! She didn't do anything to annoy me or Everyone is going to have a new book boyfriend after they read this book! Spencer is one of the hottest characters I have ever had the pleasure to read about! My mouth dropped open when Airicka introduced him into Games of Fire! He was absolutely perfect! I can completely understand why he acted like a jerk to Sophie at the beginning of this book but I loved his development and his relationship with Sophie! The secondary characters in this book were so funny! Sophie's best friends had some of the funniest lines that I have ever read! The ending was full of suspense! It was just amazing! I did guess the bad guy as soon as he was introduced though and I was right! I knew that there was always something about him that just didn't sit right with me but I was hoping that it wasn't him though! There has got to be another book to this one! I honestly don't think that I can let go of Sophie and Spencer! The cover is also beyond stunning! Big thank you to Airicka for an ARC of Games of Fire and also to Amber for having me on the Blog Tour!

Flipping flapjacks Airicka Phoenix has blown my mind once again! This book I shamelessly bought for only 99 cents. If this book doesn't go #1 I would let anyone of you come in my house and take ALL my chocolate. Get it now, while you have the chance and read it. That way when she is one of New York Times best sellers....you can sqeeek and jump up and down saying you know her. This books is so refreshingly realistic. Such a captivating read, it left me powerless to do anything else, but read. This Author has masterfully created a novel that will totally and utterly blow you away. From the depth of the characters, and the realization of actual story line. Holy smokes! This is one of them books that will have you walking outside bare naked and not care who sees you because you just can not care long enough to put the book down. "Beware of surprises that come with gloom" Grandma Valdez This book is hard to describe without giving to much away. But I will tell you, that this book will have you laughing so hard, you will have to rush to the bathroom or wear depends LOL. In the same book you will be crying, longing and begging for Spencer to take his clothes off. Screaming at Sophie to open her legs. Also you will start to have panic attacks. when you see the words *Found You* ***"He practically had a Your mother did warn you stamp on his forehead right next to the Yes, I do taste as good as I look"*** **It was quickly becoming apparent that the ass gene did not stray far in his family.** Those are just glimpses of the giggles you will have. This book is so delightfully descriptive and of humor. Then just when you are so happy and excited about things as they progress. Your heart will start thumping, your legs will start shaking.....Phoenix places so much fear in you solely by her words. Without even realize that this fear had start in the beginning and erupts towards the end. OMG. I can NOT express to you, the way Phoenix can placate you one minute and the next minute installed so much fear, that you find yourself looking around, evaluating your own friends. Once again this Author has proven, why she is one of my favorites <3

“Games of Fire” by Airicka Phoenix I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I love Airicka Phoenix’s work! This book is a prime example why. IT ROCKED! 5 STARS, hands down – I really loved it. From the moment I read the first page, I didn’t want to put “Games of Fire” down. I was literally walking around holding my kindle and reading, sitting with my iPad and reading, and at other times reading the story from my phone! I swear if it weren’t for that thing in life call “Games of Fire” by Airicka Phoenix I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I swear if it weren’t for that thing in life called responsibilities, I wouldn’t have put it down. But you know…someone has to take care of the kids right?! I would definitely recommend this book to people who have read any of Airicka Phoenix’s other books, and anyone in general looking for a great read. Sophie Valdez and Spencer Rowth are neighbors. Spencer just moved in next door, he is the new boy in school, and he’s hot. From the moment Sophie met Spencer she has been confused by his actions. One second, he is devouring her with his eyes, and the next second he is either yelling at her or storming off. She learns he had his heart ripped to shreds in the past and doesn’t trust females. How can Sophie convince him not all girls are the same? While Sophie and Spencer figure out exactly what they mean to each other, there is an ever-present shadow watching their every move. At first Sophie is oblivious to the stalker’s presence, but as her relationship and understanding with Spencer increases, so does the stalker’s boldness. Find out who the stalker is, what they want, and why they are after Sophie and Spencer. Is it random? Is it jealousy? Or is it revenge? You will have to buy and read “Games of Fire” by Airicka Phoenix to find out! I know you’ll want to see what the verdict is on Sophie and Spencer’s relationship too! Ahh! I LOVE this book! I know I already said this but…this book rocks. Airicka Phoenix rocks too Seriously. You need to buy this book right away and read it. I absolutely love the characters of this novel. I feel like there wasn’t a single character that was unimportant or should have been left out. Ms. Phoenix is very talented and has a way of writing that everything you read in her stories is significant. I was instantly in love with Sopie. She is the kind of girl that I would love to hang out with. Sophie is just a real girl in her vintage tees and jeans. I’d love to swap clothes with her sometime! I related with her on many levels, her situation with Spencer one of them. As for Spencer…he is just an all-around rock star. From the first scene he was introduced, I was in love – even though he wasn’t the most polite man in the world. But what can I say? I fall for the bad boys…but the ones who are secretly good guys on the inside are the best. I understood why Spencer was so guarded towards females. I would have thought it were crazy if he didn’t have any type of wall up to protect himself. I just loved how Sophie and Spencer clicked though, even when they were arguing. They had such strong chemistry between each other and their attraction was palpable. I am a sucker for happy endings and I just wanted them to have theirs; I was routing for them from the very beginning. You’ll have to read “Games of Fire” to see if they got their fairy tale though. This novel is for Young Adults. However, some of the language and sexual content is not suitable for readers under the age of sixteen. I would recommend this 5 STAR novel to readers interested in YA, Romance, Thrillers, and Mystery. Also, if you enjoy the New Adult genre then I think you will like this book as well. I definitely think that you should add “Games of Fire” by Airicka Phoenix to your To Be Read list, along with the rest of Ms. Phoenix’s work…it will be worth it! http://bookbutterflyreviews.blogspot.ca Plot wise, I wasn't very impressed. It wasn't very original, but it had its moments, and thats what I lived for. The beginning was very similar to Obsidian (the first book of the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout) with the obsessive type relationship of Twilight and had a stalker/ thriller aspect and ending very similar to Deadly Little Secret (first book of the Touch Series by Laurie Stolarz) all without the fantasy aspects of course. There you go. If you know those three books, you basically have the entire story without ever having to read it. However, I am a sucker for a good romance story. And if it has to be a non fantasy book, you have to give me a little suspense... and this book gave it to me in spades. Although I found that who the stalker was was a little obvious, I still waited in anticipation to see if I was correct. Meanwhile, what was happening between Spencer and Sophie kept my eyes very busy reading over each steamy line. I WISH my love life were like that!... well, without the whole stalker aspect... I can live without that. The character development, my biggest book pet peeve, was decent. It could have been deeper in certain places and I found that certain choices in the book were very unrealistic, but hey, I've never feared for my life due to a deranged stalker before. Who am I to judge? All of these things I could have overlooked though. Reading as much as I do I understand that I will probably find that very few books will be original, and unpredictable to the experienced eye. I know that some authors will make writing choices that I don't agree with and are unrealistic based on their style and THEIR choices. I could have read this book, with all the things that I found lacking, and still given it a A, maybe and A-, if it hadn't been for the ending. I hated the ending with a passion. Without giving too much away, a time frame of 3 months is put inside maybe 20-30 pages tops. There was SO much that the author could have done with that time, but she basically just skipped over it. I would have thought it was days if the dialogue hadn't told me differently. Especially because the author DRAGGED over certain parts of the story that COULD have been cut to a couple of pages, I was extremely disappointed with everything that happened in that time frame and on. And the actual ending was very abrupt. I turned the page and discovered that was it and I was so confused. No epilogue, no what happens afterword. Everything becomes okay again and BAM, book over. If you like stalker thrillers, and you like a good, intense love story, this is the book for you. If you are like me and love you fantasy novels, stick to those people, there are better books out there that are a better use of our time.

I sit here the day after finishing this book trying to put into words the magnitude of feelings I have for this latest story written by the always brilliant wordsmith Airicka Phoenix, and I'm having difficulties because nothing I say feels good enough to do it justice. If you've read any of Airicka's other works than you already know the beauty that is her writing and this story is just as beautifully written. I honestly cannot get enough of her writing. If you've read any of Airicka's other works than you already know the beauty that is her writing and this story is just as beautifully written. I honestly cannot get enough of her writing. It's unique in it's style, it's beautiful and poetic and descriptive and quite frankly some if not the best writing I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The writing alone makes this story great but the story itself is magnificent! You have your leading lady, Sophie, a 17 year old girl who goes to church with her parents every Sunday and she has a great group of friends, Lauren, who is so vibrant and witty you can't help but love her. Jessie, who is a little more reserved but is sweet and wears her heart on her sleeve. And Joe, he's quiet and shy and protective of his friends. Sophie's world is changed when a sexy new boy moves in next door, Spencer. He's rude and dismissive but seems to be there to save her every time she turns around and as much as Sophie dislikes him she can't ignore the heat that seems to burn between them. She's everything he needs but doesn't want and he's everything she wants but shouldn't. The passion that explodes between these two is undeniably and incredibly powerful. The dialogue between all the characters is real and believable and witty and funny. While Sophie and Spencer embark on getting to know each other someone evil is lurking in the shadows waiting to tear everything apart. My heart races while I agonized for the terror Sophie and Spencer were faced with. One of my favorite things about this story and that I believe sets it apart from every other YA book out there is that Sophie's parents are involved throughout the entire story. Every YA book I've ever read has their 16/17 year old lead characters running around doing everything under the sun with no parental influence. Having the parents as major characters in this story makes it real and believable and sets it apart from every other story. So all in all I would say that with the traditional rating system it's definitely a 5 star book but I think it deserves so many more. There isn't enough stars in the galaxy to give this book. Well done on another fabulous masterpiece Airicka!

Spencer was Daemon Black (Lux series) meets Jace Wayland/Herondale/Morgenstern (TMI), minus the supernatural parts. I loved Sophie cause she has my name (lol), she was independent and loyal, and stood up for what was right and against her enemies. The story developed and unfolded wonderfully, and the romance was full-on yet uncertain, and perfectly realistic in most places. And that ending! It was amazing, and completely unexpected. Broke my heart because I really thought that... the person *wink wink*... was nice, and something could come of them. Amazing way to finish the book! I sincerely recommend this book to any YA mystery and romance lovers. This book blew me away! Is there a sequel? Cause I sincerely hope so! Would be worth anyone's time! Was this a debut piece? Because if it was, I congratulate the author and look forward to reading more of her works!

I loved every bit I couldn't wait to get to the next page, each page brought on more excitement and drama, so INTENSE!!! The connection between Sophie and Spencer was HAWT! This is one book I highly recommend being on your shelf. This will def be one to read over and over again, just so you can get your Spencer fix.

So first and foremost, when i went into this book i was under the impression that it was paranormal because the side thing over there ---> says someone put it under paranormal/fantasy, well its not. But don't let that stop you from reading this because i am usually strictly paranormal reader and i loved this book. Okay now to the regular rev So first and foremost, when i went into this book i was under the impression that it was paranormal because the side thing over there ---> says someone put it under paranormal/fantasy, well its not. But don't let that stop you from reading this because i am usually strictly paranormal reader and i loved this book. Usually compt. fiction makes me feel really bored after awhile, it was not the case here and if you are the same as me then i promise you won't get bored!!! Okay now to the regular reviewin' Song choice! "Make You Feel My Love" by yes Adele. Sue me. I love her and i will openly admit that always. And obviously this reflects the love in the book. Kay first thoughts, even though i sort of already did some..well whatever. I thought that it was really good but i don't have a lot of experience in this area on whats the norm, and what nots, but from my limited experience ... hmm i am trying really hard to think of a normal compt. fic that i have read lately and i am drawing a blank... well then. moving on.... Plot: I thought that the strongest part of this book was that it was amazingly paced. I totally breezed through this, i was actually getting kind of annoyed at work today because every time i had a costumer i was at a really good spot and i had to stop and help them, UGH PEOPLE! DON'T YOU KNOW I AM TRYING TO READ! Well anyways the voice of the MC caught me right away, i started the sample on amazon didn't even get to the second page before i was closing the sample and buying the book! I am going to talk about characters later so :p. Anyways the plot: like i said it is really well paced. I liked that this wasn't a love triangle, and that the characters were very upfront from the beginning. I loved that this book had a slight switch in POV those few moments omgod, i was bouncing up and down because i was sooo excited, but mostly because i am sadistic. Unfortunately i had this figured out at the beginning at least i was pretty damn sure i was right.... but i didn't stop me from a)wanting to know that i was right b) seeing the relationship between Sophie and Spencer develop. Oh i should talk about that, i liked it. The tension between them - omgod! i don't think that i have squirmed that much in a book in quite sometime. I just wanted them to angry kiss all the time. I loved them, together and separate. And on that note lets talk about characters! Oh but before i do! Talk about steamy moments! HOT HOT HOT, WITH A CAPITAL "H" "O" AND TWO "T"S hehee but those are only make-out sessions, no super steamy sex scenes sorry kids! Characters: Sophia (Sophie): Like i mentioned before i loved her voice! one of her first lines and one of my favorites: "What her mother really meant was, let's make sure our new neighbors aren't serial killers or worse salesmen!" That is just a little taste of this sarcastic Blondie. She is a really fun character to follow, i liked her also because she was well rounded. She could be bold and unflinching, to meek and nervous. She kept me guessing but always i liked her. She only made me mad once, and okay its a personal belief in my case - and she shares it too: No cheating. That's that. And i understand that it is explained but she defends someone that cheated, no not Spencer i promise but i got really mad that her then i wanted to slap her. But i am letting it go... maybe... no i am not i am holding onto this grudge for just a little while longer...maybe forever we shall see. Anyways Sophie: awesome. loyal. sweet. A great Main character! Spencer: God at first i hated him, like legit hated him. I wanted to throw him across the room, then kick his tattooed ass! His ass isn't tattooed...well as far as i know...Anyways....But then we find out why, and i start to understand. then he starts to change before our very eyes. He tries, and he succeeds. And i have fallen in love, because Sophie has fallen in love. They have things that bring them closer to each other in a shorter amount of time but it is obvious that they care about each other, with that said it did go a little fast for me hence the four stars, but i honestly can't tell you that i am an expert on this kind of stuff because i am not, i even get annoyed with my awesome supernatural books with the soulmate rule because its like BAM i love you. and i am like wait what? We don't get to see them fall in love? Well how rude! But now thinking back there were moments when these kids really do show you how much they care. Okay back to Spencer, he is protective and sweet, not overly possessive but a flirt and HOTT The best friends! Lauren and Jessie: I loved them, especially Lauren she had amazing one liners that had me laughing out loud and slapping my friend who was sitting next to me as i read it, and i would read the line out loud to her and start laughing all over again. Of course my friend thought i was crazy but its okay, i thought it was funny. Jessie is sweet but her character confused me sometimes because she would have these moments were she was very Lauren like and i was like wait i thought you were the shy, innocent one? but then i thought to myself...it's always the quiet ones... hehe okay but yeah i liked them and aside from those few odd moments with Jessie they had their own personalities and didn't get forgotten in the progression of the story. Villain: those brief POV shifts were creepy, sadistic, possessive, and OMGOSH every SINGLE ONE of them made me super giddy because i am crazy and i loved how cra-cra they were! OMGOSH probably some of my favorite moments were in those moments again its really because i am sick sick person So my last piece of advice: if you are a paranormal fan and you stumbled across this thinking it was paranormal, then find out its not, it is still worth your time, and you should really read this. If you are a compt. fiction fan - hardcore then all i can say is that i loved this and i thought it was really well written, had an amazing relationship and it was good, good good! So read it. Alrightie that was my review now comes that awkward moment where i ask you to check out my blog and you are like, "oh hell no!" and i am like "please" and you are like "no!" and i am like "please" and again you deny me and then i got cry in a corner but not really because how the hell do i know if you even looked at my review. ;) anyways i will leave the link for you if you would like to check my blog out, my friend is the one who does the compt. fiction usually so if that is what you are interested in we have that too, but we also have paranormal, scifi, fantasy, you know the good stuff ;) just kidding all books are good! well mostly...i am not going to get into that right now though here is the link: http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordp...

This book had me from the very first sentence. Literally! There are a few reasons I really looked forward to reading this book. The wonderful and amazing Airicka is a fellow Canadian, like me who I consider a friend. Also, British Columbia was a favorite spot of my mom's, and it was nice to read about places I was familiar with. I've never been to BC, but being from Canada, I have heard of a few places there. I do know it rains A LOT in BC, and was always jealous when they would rarely get snow, This book had me from the very first sentence. I do know it rains A LOT in BC, and was always jealous when they would rarely get snow, when I was always buried in it! I thought this story was beautiful! I loved Sophie and the fact that she found the good in everyone. The book starts out when she notices a new neighbor moving in to the house next door. This is when her world is turned upside down by the gorgeous Spencer Rowth. If you've been following me on FB, you know that he is my new book boyfriend. I'll get into him later though... Despite what her friends tell her, she is convinced that Spencer hates her. He's very moody and brooding when he's around her, but to everyone else, he's a normal guy! She can't figure him out. Then she takes a chance and sneaks out to a party with her two best friends, Lauren and Jessie. I wish I had a friend like Lauren, as she had her friends backs not matter what. She did get a little bit pissed at Sophie at something that really was beyond her control, but all in all, she was a great friend. At the party, she unwittingly puts herself in danger and it is Spencer who comes to her aid. After that happens, things between Spencer and Sophie start to happen. Now... on to Spencer. I'm not one for tattoos, but I would be accepting for him! He's beautiful! But, he's recovering from a broken heart and his parents divorce. Instead of being honest with Sophie from the beginning, he was doing everything in his power to push her away. He finally stops pushing when she comes over to help him get away from a few people he doesn't want to see. Throughout the book, you know she's being stalked. You just don't know by whom. When this person starts attacking both her and Spencer when they are together, they start to realize someone is out to get her. Her parents do everything in their power to hide her, but she is still found, causing her to go completely into hiding with Spencer. He loves her completely, and makes it known that he will do anything to protect her. Much to both her parents and his mother's warnings and worries, they stay together. I was up reading this book until almost 2am on Friday, and finished it early Saturday morning. I could not stop reading it. Also, I stopped reading it on Friday at a really pivotal point in the book, so of course, I had to start reading it again the moment I woke up! There are some mild loves scenes between Spencer and Sophie, which I didn't mind as much as I thought I would. They are seventeen, and Sophie is discovering everything for the first time. Plus, they have explosive chemistry!! You know from the first moment they meet, there is a spark between them that does not go out. Once Spencer realizes Sophie is not going to hurt him and that he can trust her, he becomes the most loving, romantic, protective boyfriend that she deserves. Made me wish I had a boyfriend like that in highschool! It is on the night of the Valentine's Dance at school that Sophie has a night she will never forget. Because of everything that has happened with the stalker, her parents banish her to the house for the evening. Knowing how she disappointed she was about not going to the dance, Spencer creates a very special night for her. It starts out amazing for the two of them, but ends with horror. Sophie is forced to endure a betrayal by someone who she thought of as a dear friend. She is taken totally by surprise, when this person tells her what they have been up to in their spare time. This is why I had to read it first thing this morning!! I had to know what happened! As I said, this story was beautiful to me! Spencer, who is a jerk at the beginning, becomes one of the endearing characters I have seen in a long time. He proves to her parents that his love for Sophie is absolute and he's not going anywhere. Her mother, I thought was annoying at times, but she was a typical mother to a seventeen year old. My own was annoying to me when I was that age! Wanting more freedom to do things, and being made to feel like a little kid at times when you can't. There were times I was laughing out loud at Sophie's confusion at Spencer's behavior, just because it was so true!! He always seems to be there when she needs him, and that makes the attraction between them grow. I loved this book. It is definitely one I will read again! Just to read the interaction between Sophie and Spencer in the beginning so I can have a good laugh!! They are hilarious!!

Oh how I loved this book, it was perfect! I honestly couldn't move, I had to know it all, to read it all and I can’t believe I finished it. I was hopping it will never end...but it did, unfortunately. The story catch me from the first page, and the book it’s full of action all the way to the end. Sophia should of listen sooner to her grandma Valez when she was saying „beware surprises that come with gloomy weather.” All things changed for her in January, when a white truck parked next door. Nothing will ever be the same. Sophia Maria Valez is you’re average 17 teenage girl, blond curl hair with blue eyes, a girl who hates dresses and loves her vintage t-shirts. She is a girl with an attitude, a girl who spokes her mind and doesn't back up when problems comes here way. She is the girl who you would want as you’re best friend, always there by you’re side, a nice girl with a big soul. Shophia’s mother was the perfect wife, loved cooking and cleaning, she was a role model. When she saw the new neighbors, she decided to take Sophie and pop by them with a casserole. From that moment everything changed. That was the day she met Spencer Rowth. He is the bad boy type, tattoos, always dressing in black, all full of himself with an arrogant smile on his face, but he mesmerized Sophie from the start. The only problem was he wouldn't stop making fun of her and that really pissed her off. “Blondie?” she seethed, forcing the word through her teeth. “Look who’s talking? You’re blonder than I am and—” Her razor sharp retort was cut off by Jackie’s giggle, a nervous tittering sound that amplified the unease swirling around the woman. “Spencer is such a kidder,” she said to Sophie’s mother, who looked stunned into silence by the argument unfolding like a sitcom before her. “He doesn't mean anything by it.” “Kidder is not the word I would use,” Sophie bit out, matching Spencer’s gaze unflinchingly. “Jackass comes to mind. Asshat. Pr—” But, despite all the fight between this two, you can sense there is something happening there. The only problem is, somebody is following Sophia, and taking pictures of her. Who could it be? „His entire body ached, a thrum of anticipation for the day she would finally be where she belonged. Lips bowed into a satisfied smile. She was so absolutely perfect.” Sophia has a group of best friends, they know each other since kindergarten. She has Lauren Woodrow is an expert on clothes and a beautiful girl, with a grace of a dancer? Another friend of her is Jessica Bishop, a girl who was a little shy but at the same time she spoke her mind. Last, but not least, there was Joseph Black, he is always nice to Sophie, telling her she is perfect and good, and all that stuff. He didn't liked any guys around her and he always tried to stay close to Sophie as mush as he can. Unfortunately, he is in love with her, but doesn't have the courage to tell her, because he knows that he is just like a brother to Sophie, and nothing more. Bad things start happening to Sophia, her luck is Spencer is always there saving here. On the first day of school for Spencer, an accident almost happened, as Sophie wasn't careful and a car almost hit her. Luckily for her, Spencer saved her life, and she got away just with a bump on her head. That day, Spencer acted really strange, he was kind of nice, and that made Sophie ask herself if that image of bad boy is just a facade. „Warm fingers of electricity rippled down her spine. “What else do you want?” All traces of playfulness seemed to melt into something primal, something dark and hungry to match the intensity in his eyes. His arms became bands of steel, caging her to him. Lips curved into a smirk worthy of a wolf lowered to hers. “Dangerous words, Blondie.” Love the characters, especially Sophie and Spencer, They really are the perfect couple, she is the perfect antidote for Spencer. They go throw a lot in this book, trouble seem to follow them around. But they don’t give up! This book made me giggle like a little girl, made my angry sometimes at Spencer for saying all that nasty jokes, but I love it! It’s full of surprises, and it’s not that cheesy tip of romance you see in most of the books. No, this relationship doesn't start with smiles and handshakes, and boy meet’s girl and they fall in love. This love story is trouble from the start, you will see a girl with courage trying to make her point, trying to save him from him. You should read it and see what I’m talking about! Believe me when I say, this is the perfect book I have ever read! It has it all. Thank you Airicka Phoenix for this amazing book!

Spencer... What did I intent to say? Oh, I wanted to talk... Spencer....... No, for real, I need to get a grip! So, Games of Fire is what comes up on your reading list when you ask an author for the hottest guy she has. She said Spencer was what the girls go for... So let me tell you what YOU SHOULD go for... What the book is supposed to be about: Sophie has enough problems in her life without Spencer turning her blood to fire, without his eyes freezing and burning her, without his hatred of her. Since his migration into the house next to hers, Sophia Valdez isn’t sure whether she wants to toss him under a bus or kiss that smirking mouth of his. But even as the temperature rises around them, leaping flames of passion, want and desire, everything either has ever known will be shattered by the lurking shadow hounding their every step, wanting revenge. Spencer Rowth moves to the sleepy town of River Port with his mother and twelve year old sister, Suzy, to escape a deceitful father, an unfaithful girlfriend and a life crumbling much too fast for him to grapple onto only to be smacked upside the head by the last thing he wanted again. Sophie was everything he refused to want. Her temper, her wit, her laugh, her smile, the way her entire body goes up in flames under his hands are things he would rather slam a lid on and forget. Instead, he finds himself falling for the smart-mouth next door. But how long will he have before the evil chasing them catches up? How long before the very thing he never wanted becomes his only thread to sanity? And who is after them? What do they want and why do they want Spencer and Sophie dead? What it is really about: "The guy who rounded the corner and appeared in the doorway behind Sophie was clad in nothing but a pair of black jeans slung low over tapered hips. Black leather bands clasped his wrists, just under the scrawling black, grey and white sleeves inked into his toned arms, twisting up to narrow shoulders in a winding design. There were four jagged gashes tattooed into each of his pecs, as though he'd had his chest clawed by a large animal. A silver chain with dog tags on the end dangled down the center of his chest, drawing attention to washboard abs and the carved V disappearing into the waistband of his unfastened jeans." - Games of Fire by Airicka Phoenix All I can say is: The book is built first on the (hot) tension between Spencer and Sophie, and then on the whole thrill-factor surrounding that young couple. I have to say that this book was a really fast-paced reading, which I loved from beginning to end. Airicka couldn't have had any idea what Spencer would do to me... ;-) It's nice that for once the typical hurt-girl-meets-right-guy-story was changed up in this book and it's definitely a keeper, this story. Sophie is just the girl we all want to be. Not too good, not too bed and still with a great group of friends and good grades. She lives her life the way she thinks it's best, mistakes and all, and takes everything step by step. She isn't so trusting in what she feels for Spence at first, but then, once she realizes what she wants, she goes for it, still making sure though to guard her heart when she thinks things came to a dead end. The twist at the end... BOY, I did not see that coming from the beginning. I eventually had my suspicions, but I have to admit that Airicka did a great job making you doubt what you think is the outcome. All around all I can say is as far as book boyfriends go: DO NOT MISS SPENCER ROWTH... "He definitely won major hottie of the decade in her book." - Games of Fire by Airicka Phoenix Yep, he wins that with me, too! (All pictures found on google and aren't owned by me.)

Will update review after posting on my blog on the 24th! ::evil grin:: Yep just gotta wait honey! Oh wow! All these emotions running through me right now. There are just so many one can feel while reading a book. I never expected to feel so many throughout the story... Touched, happy, irritated, embarrassed, sad, frightened, scared, jealousy, frustrated, angry, frisky, amazed, giddy, concerned, anxious, crushed and certain. Yes I had to look up most of those feeling words, but man each and every Will update review after posting on my blog on the 24th! Yes I had to look up most of those feeling words, but man each and every one I could point or describe a scene where I felt all of them as some point! This is not a book you should pass up! Written amazingly well, pulls you in from the beginning, and wraps you up in every emotion you can think of. There is just so much a girl can take, when a new boy moves into the house next door. Sophie finds it embarrassing to go and welcome her new neighbors with her mother and a casserole dish in hand. Regrets vanished when Sophie's whole world changed the moment she laid eyes on Spencer. She could undress him right there, low cut pants no shirt chiseled chest and defined abs. Oh gawd she couldn’t breathe. The most popular boy in school, Brian Fisher who? One word brought it all crashing down when Spencer opened his mouth! When Spencer doesn't give her the slightest indication that he is interested in her, playing games devouring her with his eyes, walking away from Sophie when he couldn't shake her. She's got her friends, Lauren, Jessie and Joe. Now she's noticed by the most popular boy in school, recalling his name & Spencer was put aside, Brian invited her to a party. Who knew if this was when the whole stalker thing started or if it was later, but Sophie is a magnet for trouble. When three guys try to do things in a small bathroom upstairs it was all Sophie could do to get away, running smack dab into Spencer after slicing up one of the bigger guys chasing her with a set of keys poking through her fingers! Lauren and Jessie were there every step of the way, through the ups and downs as Sophie worked her way past Spencer's walls of hurt and anguish. She fought to tear them down only to cause more pain and hurt that he didn't want her and would never be ready for something serious. Sophie finally throws in the towel and rather than confronting Spencer she avoids him like the plague. Joe is there for her, one of her best friends since Kindergarten. I totally flipped when she mentioned going to the Valentine's Dance to Joe when Spence had already asked her! The threats started when she got too close & Spencer's walls started crumbling down. Spencer letting her in more than once, sharing kisses and making out most all the time. Oh the kisses were so freaking hot that I thought any moment the clothes were coming off! Wow to have a man kiss me like that! To think I could die of an over passionate kiss!!! Alright totally got off the subject, but you try reading this story picturing Spencer in a hot and heavy KISS! The story moves on with a whole lot more twists and turns, a stalker amongst the group, encircling Sophie and Spencer. At ever corner, every move they made the stalker was right there with them. Watching, waiting...Soon very soon... Who was the cause of the new threats and stalker? Spencer or Sophie? Did the stalker want to scare them apart? Was there more to Spencer's past, unknown? I had my eye on a character from about a third of the way into the book. Though I won't tell my early on theory, I will say I was right!

I was so invested in Sophie (aka Blondie) & Spencer (aka Mr Gorgeous Jerkface) and all their relationship and family drama that I was happy to have it in my hands. There really wasn't a dull moment. I relished it. There was no editing or spelling errors, it was just an allencompassing read that had me praying for a happy ending. It was becoming apparent very quickly that the bogeyman no longer resided beneath the bed or in her closet, but had stepped into the world beyond the dark. It had stepped into her world where it could frighten her wherever it pleased. When it all hit the fan? Holy poopsicles, it was intense, I think I may actually have stopped breathing for way longer than recommended. Geeeesh, my heart is pounding up my throat in remembrance of the sheer horror I felt living in Sophie's shoes. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone adults and YA alike. Ms Phoenix has a real talent and her way with words just really get down and embed themselves into your psyche. I would take this authors name and shout it out from rooftops, mountains, hell, even my own soapbox and tell you to read anything this woman writes...even if it were on a roll of toilet paper. I know I would...this book will be in my favorites for 2013. I will give you a hot tip on that one. Don't wait til it's a NY Times best seller. You'll kick yourself. Start reading, and fall in love with the characters just as I did! You can't keep something that doesn't want to be yours.

This lady is amazing and the stories she writes blow my mind EVERY time. Games of Fire is no exception. This book had my eyes glued to the first page and I didn't stop until I'd read it in one sitting. I neglected pretty much everything but the basic necessities which consisted of quick toilet breaks. Sophie's life gets a little complicated when Spencer Rowth moves in next door. He is all kinds of hot with his tattoos and piercings and abs. Then he goes and opens his mouth and Sophie realises he's arrogant and a jerk. I loved that these two had sparks straight away. I mean the kind that could burn a house down. I think Sophie and Spencer are now high on my favourite couples list. Sophie seems like a nice and quiet girl next door, but she certainly knows how to give as good as she gets. She's my kind of girl; it doesn't bother her to spend the day in her grungy Green Day t-shirt and jeans, plus she only owns two dresses. She's definitely got spunk, and she needs it as Spencer knows how to push her buttons and does. The banter between them is one of the best parts of the book. Spencer has been burned before and has not shown interest in a girl for two years. Then he meets Sophie, and boom! he's got it bad. Spencer is on par with Daemon from Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux novels. He just has that presence on the page. You're not sure if you want to punch him or kiss him, or both. As the two of them get to know one another they begin to realise someone wants to hurt them. I wasn't sure where this was going in the beginning, because it only played a small part in the plot. As the story progresses we get given little pieces of information and you start to wonder how it's going to play out. After a while I started to work it out in my head and I just wanted to read faster so I could find out what was going to happen. I had my suspicions who the suspect was, but I was never entirely sure if I was right. The last third of the book is when things start to really pick up and you can feel the suspense build, waiting for that crescendo. It doesn't disappoint. Airicka has crafted a taut, suspenseful thriller hidden inside a smoking hot contemporary romance. I loved this book so hard and was a little lost after I had finished it. I had to sit there for a few minutes and wonder where I went from there. I know when I pick up one of her books, I am going to be treated to an amazing story with characters that leap off the page and a story line that will sink it's claws deep into my brain and won't let me out until I've the whole thing. If you haven't picked up one of Airicka's books, you are missing out on one of the best authors out there!

First off let me be clear I love Airicka and all her writings, but so far this is her best work in my opinion. I first fell in love with Sophie while her and her mom were talking, "We should go over," her mother said decidedly. "I have a casserole in the freezer we can take. It'll be nice." What her mother really meant was let's make sure our new neighbors aren't serial killers or worse, salesmen." Fell in love with Spencer right off, with just a description of him, "A silver chain with dog tags on the end dangled down the center of his chest, drawing attention to washboard abs and the carved V disappearing into the wasteband of his unfastened jeans." And first interaction between Sophie and Spencer is honestly nothing normal which I loved, "Kidder is not the word I would use," Sophie bit out, matching Spencer's gaze unflinchingly. "Jackass comes to mind. Asshat. Pr-" Then there was this part of the interaction that made me giddy: ...all her attention melted down to where he was touching her. His fingers. His thighs. His heat. His eyes. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! "I can show you more if you like what you see," he said in a whisper just for her ears. Also Sophie loves her man and has a temper, "No, no! You don't get to speak. You're going to listen. This." She gestured up and down to all of him." Does nothing for me. You do nothing for me. In fact, you ever think about hitting on me again, I'll dropkick you back to Aimee. Yeah, remember her? Your girlfriend? So if you're smart you're going to get your creep self out of my face...I'm Spencer's I pick Spencer. I will always pick Spencer..." I really thought the book ended to soon, like it ended abruptly, I want more of Spencer!

I'm sitting here thinking of how I can review this book and give it the justice it deserves. I don't want to give any spoilers, so it's gonna be so hard for me to reign myself in this one, lol. This book was by far Airicka's best book. From the first few paragraphs, I was catapulted into this book...into this world she was describing. Man, does she have a way with words. I've never traveled to British Columbia, I'm not even sure I've seen it in pics, movies, on TV, etc....and yet I could pictur I'm sitting here thinking of how I can review this book and give it the justice it deserves. I've never traveled to British Columbia, I'm not even sure I've seen it in pics, movies, on TV, etc....and yet I could picture it, as if I was there. And that's not even the best part. Sophie is a regular girl, well regular if you can go by the fact of she's not the most popular girl, but she's not the lowest on the totem pole...she's pretty and she's got her friends. She does well in school, she's happy...she's got everything going for her. And then she meets Spencer. He's a complete jerk...and that's being a nice way to describe him. He moves in next door and he's breathtakingly gorgeous. He's all she can think of, he consumes her. Yet every time she runs into him, he treats her as if she has the plague...except when he's not, lol. And let me tell you, I loved when he wasn't treating her badly, you think Sophie's heart was racing? I was telling one of my friends that it was horrible that I was lusting after a high school boy. That it was bad he was making my heart race and my breath catch just like Sophie's (thanks for laughing at me, Sue, you'll get your own taste of Spencer soon, lol), but when Airicka describes a "man", you just can't help yourself. Anyway, then someone starts threatening Sophie and bad things start happening and Spencer is always there. Oh man, I'm gonna give too much away! Just go out and get this book and read it. I'm gonna promise you that you won't be able to put it down until you're done reading it...it's just THAT good! You can catch this review and more at http://ibreathethereforeiread.blogspo....

Ok so yeah, it's no secret I love Airicka Phoenix. She writes a mean book and this was no exception. I was thinking that this was going to go a whole lot differently then what it did, I mean wow! My heart was literally in my throat the whole time. As I'm reading through Spencer and Sophie's saga and thinking, Oh I know what's going to happen next. I was so wrong. Up and down I went thinking this and getting totally thrown for a loop every time. This wasn't your average good girl meets bad boy and they fall hopelessly in love book. It had murder, mystery, love, excitement and the nice little cat fight thrown in. Sophie was in fact the good girl. Two loving parents who loved and cherished her and 3 of the best friends you could ever imagine. Sophie was a pistol though. She wasn't one to sit by and get walked on. Nope, she told you exactly how she felt about you. That's what I loved the most about her. She was naive because of the fact she was only 17 but she was a fighter. If you even thought of hurting her friends or family she was right there in your face. Spencer was a whole different story. He oozed bad boy but when Sophie first set her eyes on him she was totally mesmerized by him. That was until he opened his mouth and Jerk came out. I mean seriously. He was a total asshat to Sophie and Sophie alone. He gave his million dollar smile to everyone else. Sophie had no clue what the heck was up with him or why he acted that way. In the end I was totally satisfied with how things turned out with the exception being I need more of Spencer and Sophie. Need being the major word there. This is a total winner in my book and you seriously need to read this if you want all that stuff I just said. Do I get more? Please!...

This book blew me away. I've read one of Ms. Phoenix's books before and I found myself enjoying that one as well. However, Games of Fire is probably one of my favorite things I've read in a while. Sophie and Spencer meet and after fighting their growing mutual attraction for a third of the book enter into a sort of relationship, where neither wants to take take the next step, but they find themselves becoming tangled together. Then the really weird things start to happen. Vandalism, creepy messages, and some truly disturbing things happen in this book. I figured out who was behind it rather early on in the book, but it didn't take away from the story. In fact it made it even more fun to see when the big bad thing was going to happen. And speaking of big bad things--this is a doozy. And it's interesting how it's resolved and the buildup to it is really well written. I think what I like most apart from the suspense and the fact that this story goes so much deeper than good girl/bad boy fall in love is that the characters grow and change and evolve. They are not the same people at the end of the story that we as readers meet on page one. The characters change and get stronger, and good things happen, bad things happen and it's just really an all around great story. I cannot get enough of this story. I really liked it. It surprised me and I'm glad that I read it.

This author is amazing. she has a writing technique that makes a book of 400+ pages to be read within a day, and that's what I did. I really am a fan of your writing, Airicka. I liked this book but not loved it. Insta love/lust is so common now a days that it really is annoying now. But, truth to be told if I didn't like something, there was certain elements that overtook my dislike and added on to my liking points about this book. Just like Lauren and her point system. what deducted the points: 1. This author is amazing. she has a writing technique that makes a book of 400+ pages to be read within a day, and that's what I did. Just like Lauren and her point system. what deducted the points: 1. the 2 months of Sophie and Spencer was quite detailed wereas the last 3 months of the book was so quickly paced. I didn't mind though but I would have liked a bit more detailed status of her situation. 2. insta love/lust situation 3. i needed an epilogue so I could understand how it went for the couple. What she faced was no easy stuff, it must have left some scars. 4. what happened between Spencer and his mom when he knew not everything she told him was true. it was a skewed pov presented to him. what added the points: 1. the way Spencer is unsure of himself. thankyou so much for not making him the all knowing kind of hero. this was huge sigh of relief and added a lot of points, lol. 2. the role of secondary characters. 3. the sexual tension between Sophie and Spencer. 4. the way they wanted this relationship to work, also Sophie being a strong female lead. it's not everyday i see this. 5. Also as I have mentioned before, the author's writing style; it never bores you, keeps you intrigued till the last.

Review: I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. My only issue was I had already guessed the biggest secret after the first few chapters, so when I actually got to it I was a little disappointed just because it was a bit predictable. Otherwise this was a great read. I really liked reading about Sophie and what she was dealing with. I found her to be very likable but she was easily made to second guess herself and her feelings. Spencer stole the show for me with his hotness and his love for Sophie, but sometimes he came off a little strong. And if I didn't know any better he could have became a villian quite easily. Suzy was the character that I couldn't quite grasp. She was absent, then appear for just enough time to put ideas in Sophie's head, then disappear again. I found that rather strange. The only other thing that I wished would have been included would be more information on the missing girls. It felt like it had been popped in and not explored to it full potential. This was a great book to read and I would recommend it to all YA lovers and to those readers who love suspense. I will definitely be keeping my eye on Airicka Phoenix to read more of her great work.

I was able to finish the book, but I ended up skipping so many pages in between! The only reason I even took the energy to keep on skimming was to make sure that my guesses were correct. The story was so aggravatingly predictable and unrealistic. Protagonist gets in trouble. Protagonist runs into a "solid wall of muscle" that just happens to always be the mysterious, bad boy Spencer. Spencer saves the day and then withdraws within himself to stay away from said Protagonist. *Yawn* I never wavere I was able to finish the book, but I ended up skipping so many pages in between! And the exclamation marks!? Gah. Yeah, I understand a few here and there to emphasize a point or portray anger from someone, but when you have consecutive pages of them, it just ends up sounding awkward and caveman like. If I had known that Games of Fire was flat out contemporary in the beginning, I would've never picked it up in the first place. I'm sure others who enjoy reading Contemporary Romance will find this story much more intriguing than I, but I definitely will not be reading this again! I think I'm just going to stick with my normal paranormal/dystopian genres from now on. =/ Heroine- 1/5 Romance- 2/5 Comedy- 1/5 Action- 1/5 Overall- 1.5/5

Just finished Games of Fire and OMG...Wow!!! I absolutely loved this book!! I started reading it at 7:30pm and 2.5 heart-stopping hours later, I'm sitting her writing a review. Games of Fire has everything a good book should have - romance, action, sarcastic humor, thrills, mystery, good versus evil, and absolutely wonderful characters. The relationship between Sophie and Spencer is so tenuous in the beginning - there's definitely an attraction there but both of them are too scared to admit it. Then slowly the barriers come down and they become friends and fall in love. Their make-out scenes are super smexy and yummy!! And I love how Spencer is always there for Sophie and always keeps her safe. I have a new book boyfriend!! And I never thought of "Blondie" as a term of endearment before but I definitely do now. Spencer can call me "Blondie" anytime he wants. You NEED to read this book and experience the amazing writing of Airicka Phoenix. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Once again Airicka has wowed me with her creativity! I love how real her stories seem especially Games of Fire. It's full of suspense, thrills, mystery, teenage angst, love, obsession and darkness that I've come to love. Lives are threatened and relationships are tested as you are thrown on this roller coaster of awesomeness that could only be created by the talented Airicka Phoenix! I wasn't sure what to expect as far as story goes with Games of Fire. All I knew was that Airicka wrote it and I knew that it was going to be epic. And I was so right! You seriously need to stop reading this review and get your copy of Games of Fire so we can discuss! Kudos Airicka on writing such an intense thrilling read!

When you see that beautiful cover you don't expect a horrible book, but that's just what happened. I don't know how to describe this book. At first I thought that maybe I understood wrong and this book had some paranormal scenes in it. The love was instant and went from cold to hot to ice cold to horrible. The plot was predictable. I felt that the scenes were cheesy. If you have read more books like these you know what they will do and say next. Someone is out there and has his eyes on Sophia. She gets treats and has to go in hiding. There's to much drama, Spencer is ridiculous just because when he was 16 and his first love cheated on him he behaves like he has been married for 30 years and then was cheated on. The book was to much, the scenes to predictable, the love to instant, the drama was over the top. This is a good example of how the book played out.

I was gifted this book to write an honest review I have to say, I've never read one of Aricka's books but I did have some of hers on my to read list. I feel like an idiot. I started this book at 10am and I just finished it at 9:20pm. Yes I read the damn thing all day because I was so captivated and in love with the back and forth of Spence and Sophie! I could of read about them forever. My gah Spencer is one sexy slice of manly gorgeousness! So realistic and I was hooping and hollering by the end (don't wanna spoil anything) because I was literally hyperventilating. I was just so relieved! My only disappointment is that I didn't get an epilogue a few months later or even farther, only because I'm selfish and wanted more of them!! Their love was so sweet and out of this world passionate. She wrote them so amazingly I felt a little jealous of Sophie in those moments ;)

I just love Games of Fire it was a great book. I just kept wanting to turn the page to see what happens next. Reading about Sophie and Spencer was just awesome love them both and guess what got me a new book boyfriend yup I said it. You have Sophie just like any average teenage having her friends and meeting a hot guy that just happens to move next door to her. Spencer in the beginning was hot and cold towards Sophie but once Sophie gets to know him more you just fall in love with him just like I just love Games of Fire it was a great book. I love a mystery and love trying to figure things out but this time ya I was guessing like a crazy person then when I find out who it was its like wow. You will love this story and you need to get your own copy to find out for yourself on what happens. So go now get that copy you won't regret it.
