Mack is book four in The King Trilogy by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by the author. I’m not sure what I expected with this book. This is a dark series so I expected that. But somehow Mimi Jean still found a way to shock me. I literally gasped out loud. I think my hand even flew over my mouth! So does this make her the master of authors? Or the master of torture? I’ll let you decide. This is the story of Mack. In book three, we learned exactly who Mack really is, but now we get his story. What happened to him when Mia made him run over three thousand years ago? His tale wasn’t a good one. He did find love, only to have it stolen away from him, and for him to be forced to endure his own curse, a curse that would make him a monster. Theodora Valentine or Teddi was always smart, way ahead of her classmates. Now, with her PHD in Psychology, she has been hired as director of a private mental hospital. Teddi has a knack for being able to diagnose patients almost immediately. But emotionally, she is void. She doesn’t feel at all. Nothing. It’s her first day of work at her new job. As she is reviewing patient files, she comes across a John Doe that just walked in and checked himself in. He just sits in his room in the dark, seemingly waiting for something. If this man is refusing treatment, then they could use his room for someone else, so she decides to visit the man herself. One look into those piercing blue eyes, and the flood gates open. All the emotions she never felt come rushing in. “Overnight I’d gone from being a person who lived in a world defined by logic, to a person living in a world where logic was completely useless.” Mack claims they share a history that spanned the centuries. But Teddi is convinced these are the ravings of a diseased mind. But how can she explain these sudden changes she is experiencing? Or what of the dreams? He claims that she is the only one that can end the curse by ending his life. But glimpses into the past they shared has made her realize that she can’t give him up. She has to find a way to save him. “My brain barely knew this man, but my heart did. And everything about him made me want to fight tooth and nail to keep him.” This is the story of a love that was so strong that it refused to die, century after century. But it’s not just Mack and Teddi’s story. We still get plenty of King. In true Mimi Jean Pamfiloff fashion, she leaves us hanging yet again. She says that there is one final chapter to be told in this tale. That Mack and King will finally have to face off in the final book, The Ten Club, due out later this year. So, did I love this book? Yes, I most definitely did. I suspect I am going to need some recovery time from having been immersed in this world for the last few days while reading all four books back to back. But I have loved every minute and every page of it. So I suggest you start at the beginning and meet King, Mia, Mack and later, Teddi. Buckle your seat belts because you are in for a wild ride. Hold on tight.

Mack and Teddi's story was wonderful. It was dark, sexy, and mysterious, with its swoony moments and a touching story of two souls trying to find peace and with any luck, peace and happiness together. A brilliant story about enduring love. It's also a Mimi Jean Pamfiloff book so an incredible roller coaster ride is guaranteed. Blurb MY NAME IS MACK. In book three we discovered just where Mack slots into the puzzle in regards to King and just how much he cares for him and also the whys behind this affection. Here through a series of flashbacks, we get to experience the reasons for Macks brokenness. We are also introduced to Theodora a girl living with a condition that prevents her emotions from functioning like others. That is until her she looks into Macks striking Blue eyes and BAM!!! she suddenly feels. But with these new emotions come a whole new set of problems and as this counted down to that shocking final end-game my heart was in my mouth. I ran the gauntlet of every conceivable emotion here and got to say this really was a page-turner. A couple of things here did stop this being a full sweep for me, well mainly the Talia thing and also King's totally illogical behaviour and actions towards Theodora both past and present. But despite them niggles the rest was as usual jaw-dropping and that finale pure magic. I also prefered the fact that this was dual POV, unlike previous books where we mostly got single. So four down one to go and as much as I am so looking forward to concluding this journey I will also be equally sad leaving all these complex characters behind at the finish. Highly recommend this series it certainly is unpredictable and one that is really hard to put down. Reviewed By Beckie Bookworm https://www.facebook.com/beckiebookworm/ www.beckiebookworm.com

Mack’s story is intertwined with his brother King’s own dark and tortured existence – of course his story is just as twisted and painful. A life of immortal length sees a great deal of death, and the man at its center delivered as much heartache as he received. Wearied by his own repetitive deaths and the exhausting struggle back to reality which follows, Mack is determined to make this his last death. In his quest for a final ending, Mack seeks out the one being he is certain can offer him respite…the light to his darkness. Theodora, or “Teddi” was a child prodigy who has obtained a doctorate in psychology. Despite her many advancements, she remains unable to resolve the reason behind her inability to feel. Teddi does not experience emotions and thinks that true life has managed to elude her thus far. When her new job delivers a problem patient that sets her heart beating and causes sudden emotional explosions, she knows she must focus on helping John Doe. What’s a little curse to a girl on a mission, anyhow? The King series is such a powerfully moving work that you definitely want to check it out – you can find my review on the site. Mack is equally strong in its dark emotion and paranormal curiosity, but I feel that its intricacies are more appreciated with the background of King’s story because it places Mack for the reader. At 262 pages, it is slightly shorter than a regular length novel, but Mimi packs in a lot of action and historical background for the main characters. She can take evil spirits, monsters wearing human clothes and curses that survive death, and weave them into something so fantastic that I find myself believing that everything I read is possible. Throw in some dominant, sexy men and strong no-nonsense women, and you’ve got a story that will make you stay up all night just to finish it. Mack was one of those books. Readers of the first three books in the King trilogy will recognize him as King’s pilot and, as we found out towards the end of that saga, King’s twin brother. But Mack has a story of his own, and here we find out what happened to him once Mia made him run after King’s death eons ago. We find out his tale of love and loss and murder that spans centuries. We again get to see the wickedness that is The Ten Club, a group of the most wealthy and powerful men and women on earth that personify evil. And as the reader, we get to experience the joy, the snark and the heartbreak along with Mack and Teddi, the woman he’s loved throughout time. My review of this book feels woefully short because I don’t know what to say without giving away any of the story, and Ms. Pamfiloff does a much better job of telling it than I could. I will point out, however, that once I finished the book, I was thrilled to keep reading the authors note and find that these four books of the “trilogy” were not the end, and in the next story, we get to find out more about The Ten Club, in addition to getting more of Mack and King. I could not be more excited, because this world that has been created is simply too fascinating for me to want to leave just yet! Review copy provided for an honest review.

I loved it and am eagerly awaiting the next one.

Exciting, suspenseful book. Mimi Jean consistently gives the reader a book that makes you sad when you read the last word of the novel. This is the story of Mack, the brother of King from the "King Trilogy." I recommend that if the reader hasn't read the "King" series that they start with them first. The characters are complex as is the story. It was hard to put down, so hard that I didn't until the whole book was read. Was given an ARC by the author for an early review and honest feedback. I have to say, if I had held a "real" book with pages as I traveled the "Mack" world, instead of on my Kindle, there would be teardrops dotting pages here and there. Per usual, it was an emotional roller coaster and gasp-inducing read..with twists I never saw coming. And without revealing a spoiler...I have to say..."Mimi...how COULD you do what you did in the Vegas chapter??!! My heart was breaking from that point on and I am very worried on how it will all be resolved. It will turn out fine, right? Right? RIGHT?? Please make it come out OK.... you, you.. "Mistress of Cliffhangers"!!! I love Mimi's books because the stories are wonderful, imaginative, with the right amount of steam and will pull you into a unique world you don't find in every story available today. I also commend her attention to detail, obvious careful research and carefully edited early releases. And...again..an earlier release date for "Mack" than originally promised. In spite of the cliffhanger ending, and in spite of the broken heart I still have, this was a wonderful continuation of the "King" trilogy and a lead-in to another book in the series that promises to reveal even more mysteries...and I'm sure cause more heartbreak, gasps and mental hand wringing. I have to say I judge my 5-star reads with the following: Did it make me cry or get a lump in my throat? CHECK. Did it have twists and turns that had me guessing? CHECK. Did I feel emotional about the characters..be it positive or negative emotions? CHECK. Did I hide myself away all weekend and avoid outside contact with friends in order to read? CHECK. So, yes. 5+ stars!

Teddi (short for Theodora) has a PHD in clinical psychology but can’t explain her lack of emotions. She simply doesn’t feel them, and wonders if she is broken somehow. When she is compelled to check on a mysterious patient in her clinic and looks deep into his eyes, her life completely changes. Mack can’t forgive himself for the atrocities created by his hand and has been surrounded his entire life with misfortunes. He can’t allow himself the hope that things will change, even when Teddi walks into his life. He feels he needs to do what is right, even at the cost of his own heart…and life. As Mack shares stories from his past, it becomes clear that he and Teddi are destined to be together. The problem is Mack is tired of living. It will be up to Teddi to understand and embrace the concept of unconditional love and finding one’s true soul mate. Only then, will she be able to do what is necessary to release Mack from the perpetual hell he has chained himself to. While Mack is a stand-alone book, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not reading the first three books in the King’s series since, in my humble opinion, that is where Mack’s story really begins. I highly recommend reading the series, it is bit darker than some of the author’s earlier work, but still easy to connect to as a reader since, at the end of the day…it is all about love.

3.5⭐️ *Sigh* I just finished Mack and I'm truly at a loss for words. My feelings are all over the map. Some of those feelings are good and others are bad...very bad. As always Pamfiloff delivers a power packed story full of thrilling intrigue. Readers of King will be thrilled to get ahold of Mack. We finally get to read his journey and see how his soul became one of the damned. Let me just start by saying OH. MY. GAWD! This story was so multidimensional that it was beautiful. We finally get to read his journey and see how his soul became one of the damned. Let me just start by saying OH. MY. GAWD! This story was so multidimensional that it was beautiful. There were so many unexpected twists and revelations that I fell in love with the series all over again. The strength of King and Mack's bond and fidelity to one another will leave you speechless. I will not do a summary of the story for you. Frankly, I do have the capacity to do so. On one had the story had so many layers that I'm afraid I'll miss something but on another hand *sigh* ... some things happened inside the story that just marred the beauty of King and Mia's devotion, and Mack and Teddi's love for each other. My Kindle has never been in more peril than it was at the end of Mack. I know Pamfiloff probably has an escape plan in mind but I just felt as if I've finished a few rounds with a prize fighter...and lost. As much as I appreciate Pamfiloff's artistry in being able to paint a high definition picture with words, I almost wish I had waited to read Mack when the next book was available. Oh yeah, there is a cliffhanger. A HUGE one that knocked me off my feet. I'm sorry if this review seems rambly but I am truly at a loss about how I really feel about this story. I'm hoping that the next one brings a little light. I really don't know if I can take more of...THIS *sigh*.

Mack by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff ###5 Huge Hashtags### Wow wow wow, Mimi you never cease to amaze me. Another great paranormal read with that twist that ties us back into the King Trilogy which just so happens to be my all time favourite trilogy. Whilst this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading The King Trilogy first. Whilst this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading The King Trilogy first. Theodora aka Teddi has landed herself an amazing new job in a mental health facility, she is super intelligent however, she is a little different as she doesn't really feel emotions. Mack is Draco/King's twin brother and he's 3000 years old, super hot and extremely handsome. He has checked himself into room 25, he wants to be left alone. Teddi is drawn to room 25 and the mysterious man who sits in the dark, Mack makes her feel emotions she has never felt before and he wants Teddi to help end him, will she or will she save him ? Oh wow, how do I start, I so love a Mimi adventure, full of drama, mystery and suspense. This book kept my attention from the very start to finish and captured my imagination fully and I loved every single minute. What an ending, one of those that leaves you wanting much much more now - please don't make us wait too long !

I've been meaning to write this review since yesterday but it was my youngest Birthday so I got busy. What can I say about this amazing book and the talented Author who wrote it? I keep thinking that you will somehow run out of ideas to amaze me and the other readers with, but you never do. I know not everyone will be happy about the way this book ends, but I feel like Mimi has opened up a way for the characters to develop and be even better than they were, just lets keep our minds open and wait for the next book. I personally can't wait to see what happens. Talking about waiting be ready for a major Cliffhanger, the ones of us who know Mimi and love her books know she is notorious with her Cliffhangers and there is no exception this time. "all bow down to the Queen of Cliffhangers" So in ending this review I want to say I give this book 5 out of 5 Stars. Don't forget to buy your copy the book comes out Feb 9th Good Job Mimi can't wait to read the next book.

Even though this is a great stand alone book, I felt quite a bit of satisfaction having already read the King Series. I've had questions about Mack since day one of meeting King for the first time, and finally they were answered! (Well, most of them... wait... more like some of them... *shakes fist at Mimi*) I really loved this story and couldn't wait to phone my mum and tell her it was finally out so she could get a copy as well! Well done, once again Mimi, I can hardly wait for the next one!

Once again Mimi Jean takes us on a twisting, thrilling ride involving King, Mia and a couple other returning characters from the King Trilogy! Mack is book #4 and is a great companion to the trilogy (which I recommend you read first) but is also fantastic as a stand alone book. Mack is dark and so compelling that I did not want to put it down. You will feel a bond with the characters and it will leave you wanting more from Mimi Jean. Teddi is a whole other kind of woman whom you will empathize wi Once again Mimi Jean takes us on a twisting, thrilling ride involving King, Mia and a couple other returning characters from the King Trilogy! Mack has secrets, and desires he won´t share, but now he´s finally found the one who can help him with his deepest wishes. Will King let him have his way this time? Teddi has spent her life knowing she´s not like everyone else, that she lacks the feelings and empathy - but somehow the new patient at work fascinates her like nothing else. When he starts claiming outlandish statements though, will she trust him - and can she help him? PNR Romance, action, suspense and heart-in-my-throat feelings. This was an amazing read! I was drawn in from beginning to end and had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed where the story added some pieces to King's story but remained separate. I could visualize the entire story within the story vividly and it kept me wanting more. Mimi Jean Pamfiloff continues to amaze me with where this series continues to go and leaves me starving for more!! I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
